Hajj 2023: Lagos raises fare to N3.2m

The Lagos State Government has approved the sum of N3,200,000.00 being total fare to be paid by Intending Pilgrims performing the Year 2023 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board. This was disclosed by the Hon. Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi, during a meeting with the intending pilgrims and other stakeholders at the Shamsi Adisa Thomas (SAT) Mosque, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, April, 2023. Recall that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON after considering all the Hajj components and differences in the distance according to regions as related to flights, fixed N2,999,000 for Lagos, Ogun and Oyo. Bandits kill Village head in Southern Kaduna

Security agencies in Kaduna state have reported that  bandits shot and killed one Anja Mallam, the village head of Dogon Daji, Sanga local government area of Kaduna State.  According to the report, the bandits raided the residence of the village head and shot him at close range, resulting in his instant death.  Read Also:  https://ibnewsbreak.blogspot.com/2021/06/can-knocks-buhari-for-opposing.html Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State,said Governor El-Rufai had expressed sadness over the report, and prayed for the repose of the soul of the village head.  The Governor sent condolences to the family of the deceased, and the entire community of Dogon Daji over the shocking and brutal killing.  He said investigations into the incident were ongoing.

CAN knocks Buhari for opposing restructuring

Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN has taken a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari, saying his remarks bore smacks of autocracy. The Vice Chairman of CAN, Northern region, Reverend John Hayab, cautioned the President against taking the rest of the country for granted. The President came under fire for repudiating the restructuring of the country. Police confirm killing of radio presenter as NUJ mourns

 A radio presenter with a private radio station, Titus Badejo, has been shot dead at a popular night club in Oluyole area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital . He was said to have been killed by a four-man gang who came to the night club on a motorcycle on Saturday. The state police command has confirmed the incident through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso. According to the police, "At about 0730hrs, Sunday 20th June 2021, One Damilola Afolabi ‘m’, Manager, at Club 407, Oluyole Ibadan, reported at the Oluyole Divisional Police Headquarters that on Saturday, 19th June 2021, one Titus Badejo, journalist and freelance disc jockey with the club, was shot outside the club’s premises by unknown assailants." Many escape death as truck runs into BRT terminal in Oshodi

 Many people reportedly escaped death, on Sunday, in Oshodi, Lagos State, after an empty truck ran into the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Terminal, while descending Oshodi bridge . The incident which occured at about 1pm was attributed to break system failure. It was gathered that the trailer was heading towards Mile 2 when the accident happened Eye witnesses' account said hawkers, road side traders, transporters and commuters escaped death by whiskers. However, no further damages were recorded. An eye witness Mufutau Ajani said he was heading towards the BRT Terminal when the incident happened. "Some parts of Oshodi was flooded as a result of the rain and I was heading to the Terminal when I saw people running. Thank God it was under control." However, the prompt intervention of emergency responders prevented further damages.
